About the Chalet…..

Chalet Glacier, with its four en suite bedrooms, is a beautiful traditional stone and wood chalet.  It benefits from an excellent location, being just three minutes walk from the nursery slopes and the nearest lift which takes you straight up to 2,300m altitude.

From the chalet it is also only a three minute walk to main street, with numerous shops nearby, including the lift pass office, photo booths, ski hire, many restaurants, boulangerie, après ski bars, tabac and anything else you may need!  All this is within easy walking distance – even in ski boots!

The chalet oozes Alpine charm.  The spacious lounge has wooden beams and south facing French windows.  It’s great to return home from skiing to afternoon tea in front of the large open fire.  Chalet Glacier faces the dramatic snowy peak of the glaciated Muzelle mountain, giving you some wonderful views.

We have four lovely rooms available, each comfortably sleeping 2 (or 3).  All rooms are fully en suite with WC's and tastefully decorated.

Room 1 - Double room, plus bathroom.
Room 2 - Triple room (or can be a double room with a kingsize bed as mattresses zip and link), plus shower room.
Room 3 - Double room, plus shower room.
Room 4 - Twin room, plus shower room (this smaller room is coombed).

We have made the chalet as homely as possible by including lots of paper back books and board games, UK satellite TV, DVD player and a wi-fi broadband internet connection. All bedrooms have hairdryers and alarm clocks.  Linen and towels included.

The Food…..

Dianne has spent most of the last ten years working for chalet companies – initially as a cook, and latterly as Alpine Manager responsible for chalet menu planning with a large tour operator.  She loves to cook here in France, but also enjoys using regional produce back in the Highlands catering for large shooting parties.  Obviously you will be coming to the Alps to enjoy the mountains and skiing, but at Chalet Glacier we believe the fine dining you will experience makes for a truly memorable holiday.

We start the day with breakfast, which includes a choice of ; cereals, porridge, fresh French bread, yoghurts and jams, cooked free range eggs, fruit juice, tea or coffee.

When you return from skiing, afternoon tea will be laid out for you – help yourself to homemade cake or biscuits with tea and coffee.

For dinner, we will prepare a delicious three course evening meal.  Some typical examples might be:

Starters – individual onion tartlets with winter salad and a cranberry dressing, Partan Bree soup, local pate and nutty bread, spicy seafood spaghetti……

Main Courses – slow roasted duck with sage, ginger and rhubarb sauce served with creamy mash, stuffed marrow slices and roasted tomatoes. Leg of lamb with a redcurrant and port sauce served with roast potatoes, lemon glazed carrots, and peas with onions and lardons.  Salmon on a bed of caramelised leeks, with a puff pastry lid, served with fresh salad and penne pasta……

Desserts – chilled pears poached in red wine and cinnamon, classic banoffee pie, hot chocolate pudding, berry fruits crumble….

To compliment your meal we will serve free red and white wine during the course of dinner.

On your first evening we will serve welcome aperitifs by the fire before dinner.

We are happy to cater for children, with an earlier separate mealtime if you prefer.

Vegetarian options are available – please let us know in advance.

Dianne will take one day off each week from cooking.  Breakfast on that day will be as above, and laid out for you to help yourself.  In the evening you will be totally spoilt for choice with restaurants of all kinds nearby, including just around the corner a restaurant recommended by the Michelin guides which serves high French cuisine for a very special night out.  Otherwise, choose from Italian, Thai, Fondue, steaks cooked on open fires, Tex Mex, Pizzerias, Seafood,  among many more.
