Les Deux Alpes……

As you arrive in L2A along the bustling main street, you will see the ski area on both sides of the valley to your left and right.  Straight ahead is the dramatic view of the mountain peaks which make up the nearby national park.  All in all a stunning setting for this modern resort.

Les 2 Alpes is situated in the Isere region of France, conveniently located one hour east of the town of Grenoble.  Just across the valley from L2A is Alpe d’Huez, and over the Col du Lauteret is Serre Chevalier – both of these resorts are included on the L2A lift pass as days out.

The ski area of L2A has a huge variety of skiing throughout its 220km of pistes.  The resort itself is at 1650m, the bulk of the skiing is above 2000m, and the highest lift takes you to a staggering 3600m.  The main nursery slopes are excellent for beginners, all conveniently at resort level and serviced with snow cannons.  Higher up in the ski area there are plenty of big cruisey blues and greens for intermediates.  Experts are spoilt for choice with challenging blacks and an amazing array of off piste skiing at all altitudes.  The resort is linked via the glacier with the off piste mecca of La Grave.  For the young or young at heart L2A boasts the biggest and best snow park in the whole of Europe.

The glacier is the largest skiable glacier in Europe, providing skiing both winter and summer.  Perhaps surprisingly, most of the glacier terrain is not too challenging, so even first week beginners can enjoy the breathtaking views and motorway pistes on offer up there.

There are a number of ski schools in resort, and Rod works for the best one!

The European Ski School offers a wide range of products with top quality instructors who can help you get the most out of your holiday.  Our Saturday changeover days are designed to tie in with group lessons, which normally begin on Sundays.

We have arranged a discount for you with a nearby Anglo-French ski hire.

Any non skiers will really love L2A.  If some of your party are up skiing, non skiers can take the ‘red eggs’ lift from very close to Chalet Glacier up to meet the skiers at 2,300m for lunch at a beautiful alpine mountain restaurant with sunny terrace. The ‘pedestrian pass’ gives access to the glacier with its ice caves, and also to the gondola down to the quaint old village of Venosc.  There is a heated outdoor swimming pool in the resort, also bowling, ice skating, beauty therapists & hairdressers for pampering, regular buses to Grenoble for sightseeing, museums in neighbouring hamlets and excellent paths for walking or guided snow-shoeing outings.  As we are in the sunny southern Alps, there are plenty cafes with deckchairs for people- watching, relaxing and catching a few rays - you will never be bored here!

Other activities that everyone can enjoy are skidoo trips, helicopter flights to Alpe d’Huez, floodlit night skiing and many organised sporting events and special shows put on by the resort for visitors.

L2A really comes alive at night.  There are an enormous amount of bars to choose from, so there really is something to suit every taste – from live music (Mark is the best and has a loyal following), happy hour après ski bars and nightclubs, to more intimate creperies and bars with open fires serving mulled wine and boozy hot chocolate!  (Often though, the chalet is just too comfortable, and after a full day of fresh mountain air and excitement on the slopes, it’s simply too hard to drag yourself away from the fire to check out everything on offer in town!)
